The Toyota Tundra has always been a powerful workhorse. Now, it’s getting completely redesigned for the 2022 model year. Toyota says we should expect a new lineup of powertrain options, an updated suspension, and bold available features. The full list of 2022 Tundra details are scheduled to be released later this year; until then, here’s what we know so far.
Powertrain options
One of the most anticipated updates to the 2022 Tundra will be its new powertrain options. The current Tundra is available with a 5.7-liter V8. While this engine is strong and capable, it will be nice to have a few more options to choose from. Many industry experts believe the Tundra may offer a diesel, a turbocharged V6, and possibly a hybrid option, too.
Suspension update
Updated suspension components may include an independent rear suspension, air springs, or improved coil springs. Any of these options should improve the overall ride comfort and handling of the Tundra.
New, modern features
Based on a teaser image released by Toyota, it seems like the new Tundra will feature a large horizontally mounted touch screen in the center of the dashboard. While this screen likely will not come standard, it will be great as an available option. Another image released by Toyota shows a spectacular panoramic roof option. The dual-panel roof appears to offer a nearly open-air driving experience.
